100th Birthday Surprise

| What do you possibly get for the woman who has it all? The family of Isabel Kraft has been struggling with that question. "I tell them not to get me anything because I could be gone at any minute," said Kraft, who turns 100 on Saturday. Kraft`s daughter, Darlene, finally came up with a few ideas. "The governor and the president sent her a happy birthday card," said Darlene. But that wasn`t enough for a mom that means so much to her kids. "How many people turn 100?" asked Darlene. That`s when Darlene decided to write this letter to the NBC Today Show, addressed to Willard Scott, in hopes he would say happy birthday on national television to her mom. "I contacted the Today Show," said Darlene. Her wish was granted, and Thursday morning as the family sat around the television set waiting to hear Willard Scott`s shout out to their mom. The problem is that while Kraft was waiting for her special birthday greeting, Regis and Kelly come on during the third hour of the Today Show. "I think they`ve gone all out, they`ve done to much," said Kraft. Even though Kraft wasn`t able to watch Willard wish her a Happy Birthday, she is still smiling. "I don`t think I have any big smiles left," said Kraft. Because it`s the thought that counts, and on Saturday her family is throwing her a big 100th birthday bash, that even you are invited to. "Come on down, anyone can come, I’ll talk to them," said Kraft. Kraft`s birthday party will take place at the Moose Lodge from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. |
