A communications consultant familiar with social media just found another use for it.
She used Twitter to save her own life.
Leigh Fazzina crashed her bike in the woods in Farmington, Connecticut last weekend.
Unable to get a call out for help, she turned to Twitter.
Her tweet timeline shows responses coming in within minutes and strangers from all over called rescuers in Farmington to get her help.
"I`ve read about it before but it`s a first for us here and we did receive calls from California, South Carolina, New York City, and Chicago, Illinois," said Farmington Police Lieutenant Marshall Porter.
Fazzina was checked over at a local hospital and has no serious injuries.
She says she`s looking forward to getting back on a bike soon, and she`ll be sure to bring her cell phone along for the ride.
"There are tools that shouldn`t be neglected or poked at or made fun of," she said. "I mean they`re amazing communication tools." |
