Inside Business: More on Tap at Walrus | Video

Jim Christianson | 5/8/2012

A Bismarck bar and restaurant will soon mark its 20th birthday. And the owner of the Walrus is plugging in a few more choices for customers.

It`s been a busy weekend at the Walrus restaurant in Bismarck.

"So excited, yesterday was like Christmas morning," said owner Jill Sanford.

Since she bought the restaurant in 2009, Sanford says she`s always wanted to offer more selection to customers.

"It`s always been my dream to have a bar with a lot of taps. I absolutely love beer."

Her customers love it, too. Sanford called in help from Jerome Distributing to install two more lines of beer taps. It took workers the entire weekend to hook everything up, but the Walrus now offers 41 different beers from all over the country.

"The market in Bismarck and Mandan is demanding more craft beers, American craft beers."

When checking out the new varieties, you won`t find any domestics along the line.

"One of the questions that`s asked of me most, `What do you have new? What`s new on tap?`"

Starting today, that answer will be, "a lot."

The Walrus is also planning special promotions to coincide with American Craft Beer week, beginning Monday.
