Job Service North Dakota says there were over 24,000 open and available positions online last month. So, no matter what you want to do for a living, odds are you`re going to have to apply online.

"About 80 percent our employers that we work with have on some type of online system," said Phil Davis, Customer Area Manager at Job Service North Dakota.

One of those employers, Medcenter One, has been doing it since 2004. Applying online can have its advantages.

"We have had cases here at Medcenter when the applicant is in the process of submitting their application and the manager is calling them already," said Medcenter One Employment Manager Laurie Wetsch.

Proofreading, making copies for your records and reading the fine print are a few things you can do to make your application stand out. Just remember to complete the entire application.

"One of the most important is complete it thoroughly. So read directions," Wetsch said.

"What we see people get frustrated with the most, they don`t read the directions. They`re all excited about that job, `Oh that job is perfect for me.` And they forget to read the directions," said Davis.

If you`re looking for more help, Job Service has many resources available on its website, jobsnd.com. You can also search the website for job openings.

With mobile technology, you can even apply for jobs on the go.

"So, with your tablet or your smartphone, anybody can go online and find jobs," said Verizon Wireless Manager Nicolle Fleck.

With apps like Indeed and Hire a Droid, you can search for jobs online, no matter where you`re at.
